The final leg of our road trip took us to Nashville.  This city is slowly gentrifying, give it a couple of years and it will be the new Austin!  We sifted through the city and with many recommendations from a friend that once lived here we satisfied ourselves!

Memphis = ELVIS

Memphis Town, not a lot going for it except all things ELVIS!  It's hard to believe that this city was once the birthplace of so many amazing musicians and yet now walking down the main street is like passing through a deserted ghost town.

Don't get me wrong, if you're into Southern style food and old school music, Memphis still has enough to keep you occupied for a few days!

All the below are musts for a visit to Memphis.

STAX Records

An American record label based in Memphis.  Founded in 1957 as Satellite records, the label changed its name to STAX in 1961.  It was a major factor in the creation of both Southern and Memphis soul music styles, while also releasing gospel, funk, jazz and blues recordings.  The label's biggest star being the infamous Otis Redding.

Sun Records.

Founded in 1952 by Sam Phillips, Sun Records discovered and first recorded influential musicians such as Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash.
