Frisco

team america

When we finally descended on to the fabulous white city of San Francisco on her eleven mystic hills with the blue Pacific and its mass of patchy fog in the late afternoon it sent chills down my spine. San Francisco, I’m back!  It seemed like a matter of minutes when we began rolling in the foothills exploring this quirky city.  Our neighborhood was a mass with junkies and seemed like we were in the total wrong part of town.  It was like we were far flung into the depths of the slums with all of the world’s crazies thrown into the one street.  Uncomfortable as we felt, after a few days we were at home and seemed quite amused by the characteristic locals.

Being my third time to Frisco I just wanted to show Naomi what I thought she would thoroughly enjoy, as well as of course throwing in an amount of local eateries we needed to try!

The highlight for both of us would have to have been the day we hired bikes and rode pretty much around the whole city, taking in as much of the sights and immersing ourselves into San Fran’s soul.  We started the venture rolling through the winding, steep streets to an organic cafĂ© called ‘Outlerlands’ located in Outer-sunset on the west coast.  Tummies filled with delicious breakfast we were on our way, riding along a track hugging the coastline on a steep uphill journey through amazing pine forests until we were faced with the glory of the famed Frisco sight… the mighty Golden Gate.  We took the windy ride over the bridge to Sausalito on the northern side of the bridge.  Surprisingly it was a few degrees warmer on this side where we basked in the sun rays until we got a ferry back to the city for a taste of the famous clam chowder on the touristy ‘fishermas wharf’.  I took Naomi up to the world’s most crooked street ‘Lombard st’ where we gawked at the mass of tourists watching the cars drive down and lining up to take photos.  We pushed our way through and rode our bikes down that steep windy way! To the shock of all the standby watchers it was a feat to not fall head over the handle bars... but we did it and finished the day with a whisky!

SFO we love you
